Contract status 'discrimination'

The law protects workers and employees from less favourable treatment based on the type of contract they have with their employer.

 

This is sometimes called contract status discrimination.

 

The three types of contracts are protected:

 

Part time contract workers

 

Fixed term employees

 

Agency workers

Zero increases by 26%

The Office for National Statistics has released new figures that show nearly 700,000 people work on zero hours contracts - up 26% from last year.  The problems caused by these contracts will require a significant change in the law.
