Family leave from work

There are a number of legal rights that allow employees to take time off for care of children or other people.

 

These rights are generally restricted to individuals who have the status of employee.

 

Employers may also offer additional leave or benefits over and above the minimum legal rights.

Zero increases by 26%

The Office for National Statistics has released new figures that show nearly 700,000 people work on zero hours contracts - up 26% from last year.  The problems caused by these contracts will require a significant change in the law.
